Stainless steels are the most widely used steel type that today’s steel industry focuses on. There are various stainless steel grades and standards. Generally, stainless steels contain between 10% and 25% Cr (Chromium). Chromium rises to the surface of the steel in the structure of the steel, forming a layer of chromium oxide and prevents the oxidation of iron. This chromium oxide layer is formed as a very thin film and does not cause any adverse effects on the mechanical properties of the material. In addition, Ni (Nickel) is also used as an alloying element. Nickel improves its stainless property and provides good corrosion resistance. Stainless steels are used in almost all branches of industry.
